Who doesn’t love butterflies? More than 325 butterfly species have been documented in New Mexico, ranking our state as one of the highest in butterfly diversity. For 16 years, Asombro celebrated New Mexico’s butterfly diversity by hosting an event solely about butterflies.
Butterfly Flutterby was a large event the third Saturday of August at the Chihuahuan Desert Nature Park, attracting up to 300 human visitors and often some butterfly visitors as well. Participants could visit stations to learn how to attract butterflies to their garden, to learn butterfly identification, and to have their face painted.
